Chapter 1: The Future Value of Money (Calculations not on exam)
So How Much Can I Accumulate?
In the presentation, we said that 8%, 9%, 10% is a pretty darned good rate of return and can make us wealthy over time. Let us learn just how wealthy. The worksheet below contains future value of money exercises which are examples of long-term investing. These calculations are optional. They are not required. They will not be on the exam. (This worksheet is actually from BUS-121, Principles of Money Management Links to an external site.. It is required in the BUS-121 class. If you don't want to do the calculations, at least take a look at the answer key.) Later on in the semester, we will learn how to use present value, the inverse of future value, to assign valuations to various investments. Stay tuned!

Pretty amazing, huh? Once you are finished with this class, it is my sincerest desire that you begin a consistent, prudent, long-term oriented investment program with high-quality investment choices and that someday in your future, you wake up with $822,470 or $1,390,423.57 or $2,095,036.20 in your investment account. I won't be around by then but I do hope you will remember to thank me. You're welcome.
