Concluded Courses in Canvas

Canvas "concludes" completed courses several weeks after a term end in order to archive the course.

The idea is that a completed course is now over and so no changes should be permitted in the course. Concluding a course essentially put the course in deep freeze and makes it read only. This means:

no outreach to students via Announcements or Inbox
Grades are frozen
faculty cannot edit Canvas content
instructors can't access student activities for archival purposes (download Assignments, etc.)

Students and faculty can determine if a course has formally been concluded in the system once the course moves to the Past Enrollments area in Courses/All Courses. If a course is in Past Enrollments, it's been concluded.

For students, remind them to save course work and feedback for future portfolio projects

For instructors, remember to save student work immediately at the end of the term.
